Citizen Science Application

Overview
The application at hand is a way to collect data to record and gather a better understanding of the populations of aquatic wildlife.  This will have the ability to allow everyday people like you or myself to assist in adding population counts, habitats, and tracking of any and all aquatic life.  This can range from fresh-water animals, found in lakes, rivers, and ponds as well as marine wildlife found in our coastal regions and oceans.  It will host an abundance of data as well as build a community of individuals who strive for sustainability of our wildlife ecosystems.  This application is geared towards Fisherman, scuba divers, and anyone who enjoys spending time around water.  This along with a natural longing for conserving wildlife as it is the fuel of our environment and planet.
Persona
Creating a persona for this project allowed for me to get a feel for how the user would interact with the product.  This demonstrated the study of human interaction with technology.  We were able to create pain points as well as positive points to curate a design that fit the mold of our Persona.
Persona Users Journey
What the User enjoys:
- Simplicity in Navigation
- Understanding the objective of the application right away
- Knowing they are making a difference
- Being a part of a community
Pain Points that impact a negative Experience:
- Login or Onboarding too difficult to navigate
- The objective to the application is unclear and brings no value to user
- Does not find the application succeeds in overall mission
- Difficult navigation throughout the application.
User Flow Draft and Final
Design Systems
Once we started to understand the user flow, it was time to give it some life and add some character to the overall design.  Below is the final collection of design ideas to utilize throughout the application.  Most of the logos/icons were created in Adobe Illustrator with some usage of stock photos.
Finishing Touches
Conclusion
When approaching what looks to be the final prototype of the application, we have small quality of life changes that still need to be added.  These were formulation from Surveys and interviews with live users.  When it comes to the pages above, these are what would be used as the final product.  Most changes came in form of additional information added to onboarding/login screen to collect more vital information about the users' demographics.  These seem to pose more value when it comes to these types of data collecting applications.

Thank you!
